Taholy is Mikea's first album. Theo Rakotovao, the band leader, draws his inspiration from the Beko, the authentic blues from southern Madagascar. A subtle music, both joyous and nostalgic, bluesy and lively.

MIKEA was created in 2003 by singer and guitar player Theo Rakatovao. When he appeared for the first time on the stage of the musical club « Le Glacier » in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, Theo was wearing a traditional hatchet on his belt ! A look which was going to captivate the attention of the public and, when the band played the first notes, everyone knew that a new voice had just made an imperial raid on the musical scene. MIKEA draws his musical inspiration for the « Beko », the authentic blues from South Madagascar.
MIKEA was awarded the « Prix Découvertes RFI 2008 » by Radio France Internationale in November 2008.
His first album « Taholy » was released in May 2009 on label Contre-Jour
